Roseway Labs, a private specialist compounding pharmacy, has partnered with the University of Essex through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) to develop innovative AI-driven tools that could transform how medicines are formulated and pharmacy operations are managed.
The collaboration brings together Roseway Labs with academics from the University of Essex’s School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE), combining expertise in pharmaceutical compounding, artificial intelligence and advanced optimisation.
The KTP will focus on two key areas: developing intelligent tools to optimise pharmacist scheduling and workflow, and using AI and generative technologies to support medication formulation. The technology will be embedded into Roseway Labs’ electronic prescribing platform, eRoseway, with the aim of improving efficiency, supporting pharmacists and enabling more sophisticated approaches to personalised medicine.
By bringing academic research together with real-world pharmaceutical expertise, the partnership aims to demonstrate how advanced AI can be applied to solve complex challenges in compounding pharmacy.
Elizabeth Philp, CEO and Co-founder, said: “We’re excited to partner with the University of Essex to explore how AI can help us solve some of the most complex challenges facing compounding pharmacies today. This KTP represents an important step in our ambition to combine pharmaceutical expertise with advanced AI capabilities to improve pharmacy operations and digital infrastructure while supporting innovation in personalised medicine.”
Miriam Martinez Callejas, Chief Clinical Pharmacist and Co-founder, said: “As pharmacists, we’re constantly looking for ways to improve how we formulate and deliver personalised medicines while maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient safety. This partnership gives us an exciting opportunity to bring together our clinical and compounding expertise with advanced AI to support pharmacists, enhance our processes and ultimately help us develop more innovative, personalised solutions for patients.”
The partnership forms part of Roseway Labs’ wider commitment to technology, innovation and the development of more personalised approaches to healthcare.
